Characteristics of the control and study groups were compared using a student's t-test for continuous variables and the χ² statistic for proportions. The CrCl_est average is the average of the most recent CrCl_est at the time of each alert. The proportion of patients receiving a dose in the control and study periods was compared using a χ² test. A p value of 0.05 was chosen for statistical significance of all comparisons.
