Use of a Personal Digital Assistant for Managing Antibiotic Prescribing for Outpatient Respiratory Tract Infections in Rural Communities

Two analyses of provider adherence with CDSS recommendations. Providers with less than 30 cases were excluded from both analyses

  • Abbreviations: OR, Odds Ratio; 95% Conf. Interval, 95% Confidence Interval.

  • 1 Adherence for the first one-third of each provider’s cases is compared with the adherence for the second two-thirds of their cases. Adherence is calculated as the percentage of cases in which the CDSS recommendations were followed (including drug, dose, and duration when an antibiotic was recommended).

  • 2 Results of a random-effects logistic regression model, with adherence as the binary dependent variable (see Methods).
