Introduction

The JAMIA guidelines extend the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts (URM) Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication" composed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), as accessed October 2009 at URL: http://www.icmje.org. All JAMIA submissions must comply with the current version of the ICMJE URM, unless explicitly exempted below. General topics covered in the ICMJE URM document include:

In addition to the ICMJE guidelines, JAMIA requires authors to follow principles detailed in "On Exemplary Scientific Conduct Regarding Submission of Manuscripts to Biomedical Journals," which is available free-of-charge at http://www.jamia.org/cgi/content/full/13/1/113. Authors may also find useful materials prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) at http://publicationethics.org.

Access policy for JAMIA

All content published in JAMIA is deposited with PubMedCentral by the publisher but with varying embargo times. Authors/funders may pay an Unlocked fee of $2,000 to make the article free on the JAMIA website and PMC immediately on publication. Research funded by government and other recognised agencies is deposited with a 12 month embargo. All other content is deposited with a 36 month embargo.
